The automatic toll charging for vehicles with gross vehicle weight above 3.5t is done via TollPass on-board unit. When the vehicle is in motion, the OBU detects and sends geolocation data in real time, thus automatically detecting entry, exit and movement of the vehicle onto the paid road network. The on-board unit transmits the position data to the TollPass system via mobile connection. The data received in the TollPass system is processed and converted into toll declarations, which are exchanged with the Electronic Toll Collection System of Road Infrastructure Agency (Toll charger) for verification and calculation of the toll due.

All TollPass users that have concluded contract for provision of electronic toll collection and have equipped their vehicles with TollPass or TollPass EUROBOX on-board unit, receive the rated toll declarations in the form of a toll statement. The report is always available online at TollPass.bg online platform for all registered users. For all TollPass customers, the online platform provides functionality to generate and download various usage and accounting reports.
