In Italy, heavy goods vehicles with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tonnes pay toll. The system is based on DSRC technology. 6,600 km of Italian highways are charged with toll.

Variable vehicle parameters to be declared by on-board unit:

• Number of axles: The driver enters the current number of axles of an attached trailer.

The paid road network is operated by several Toll Operators who are members of the AISCAT (Associazione Italiana Società Concessionarie Autostrade e Trafori), which are listed on the AISCAT https://www.aiscat.it/

The service also covers toll zones for toll operators who are not members of AISCAT:
