The BLANKENBURG tunnel, Netherlands, becomes part of TollPass EUROBOX coverage
Date: 02.11.2026, Author: TollPass
If you are travelling to Rotterdam or the port, your navigation may route you via the new A24 motorway and the Blankenburg tunnel. The road saves time, but it is tolled – and there is no barrier to remind you. Here is what you need to know:
Automatic toll payment
From 19 November 2026, Blankenburg will be covered by TollPass EUROBOX – the toll is paid automatically, with no additional registration, no deadlines and no separate payments. Activate the service directly from your contract.
There are no toll booths and no stopping at this structure, so it is important to have an automatic toll solution. Cameras above the road record the licence plate of every vehicle and check whether it is registered for payment of the toll.
The Blankenburg tunnel and the toll system in the Netherlands
Since 1 July 2026, trucks over 3.5 t in the Netherlands pay a toll per kilometre driven. On the new A24 motorway this toll is not charged; the Blankenburg toll is paid instead. The two systems are separate, but with TollPass EUROBOX you don’t need to think about it.
Current toll rates are available here: https://www.e-tol.nl/en/toll-rates
The Netherlands does not apply VAT to toll charges.
From 19 November 2026, the TollPass EUROBOX device covers both – the toll for the whole of the Netherlands and the toll for the Blankenburg tunnel, as well as road tolls in the other countries covered.
