What you need to know:
From July 1, 2026, a new toll system will come into effect in the Netherlands. All heavy vehicles over 3.5 tons will pay tolls based on the distance traveled.
The toll system in the Netherlands uses GNSS technology to calculate the distance travelled based on GPS positioning during the journey.
The same system is already in use in Bulgaria, Germany, Belgium, Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland, Poland, and the Czech Republic.
You will be able to activate tolling for the Netherlands online and travel with one device across all covered countries.

The toll network includes all motorways and parts of national and regional roads.
Toll rates in the Netherlands
The toll amount depends on the vehicle’s weight category, road type, and CO₂ emission class.
No VAT is applied to toll charges in the Netherlands.
