Tolling in Denmark: soon covered by TollPass EUROBOX

Denmark will soon be part of TollPass EUROBOX coverage. If you drive goods vehicles to Denmark, find out how tolls work there, which roads are tolled and what changes in 2027 and 2028.

How tolling works in Denmark

The Danish toll system uses GNSS technology, the same as in Bulgaria, Germany, Belgium, Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland and Poland. The toll is calculated automatically based on the distance travelled on tolled roads, with no barriers and no stopping.

Which vehicles pay tolls in Denmark

Currently, tolls apply to heavy goods vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of 12 tonnes or more.
From 5 January 2027, tolling will be extended to all goods vehicles with a maximum permissible weight over 3.5 tonnes.

Which roads in Denmark are tolled

The tolled road network covers most of the national road network and certain sections of municipal roads. Its total length is approximately 10,900 km.
According to the Danish government’s plans, from 1 January 2028 tolling will cover the entire public road network in Denmark – approximately 75,000 km.
