From June 10, 2023, traffic on the E79 in the section between Mezdra and Lutidol will be restricted for about 6 months

The Road Infrastructure Agency announced that on June 10 (Saturday) the repair of the I-1 road between Mezdra and Lutidol started and traffic was restricted in both directions. The complete closure of the section and the temporary organization of traffic is for the purpose of repair and modernization of the section from the 160th to the 172th km, which includes the widening of the first-class road and the dividing strip, as well as detours to avoid passing through populated areas .

Cars up to 3.5 twill pass on road III-1004 (Pavolche - Chelopek) - road III- 1602 (Chelopek - Lyutibrod) - road II-16 (Lyutibrod - Eliseina - Svoge - II-18 Sofia ring road and back.

For vehicles over 3.5 t are prescribed bypass routes. Be careful when purchasing route maps if you plan to cross the route under repair and make sure you plan the detours correctly using the four waypoints.

Possible detour routes for vehicules over 3.5 tons

• road II-13 Krapchene - Krivodol - Borovan - Byala Slatina - Knezha - Dolni Dabnik - road I-3 Dolni Dabnik - Cherven bryag - Lukovit - Zlatna Panega - AM "Hemus" and vice versa;
• road II-15 Vratsa – Borovan - II-13 Borovan - Byala Slatina - Knezha - Dolni Dabnik - road I-3 Dolni Dabnik - Cherven bryag - Lukovit - Zlatna Panega - AM "Hemus" and vice versa.

or

• in the direction of Sofia: on road II-81 Montana - Sofia, through the "Petrohan" pass - until the introduction of winter road maintenance;
• in the direction of Montana: along AM "Hemus" - road I-3 Yablanitsa - Zlatna Panega - road III-103 Zlatna Panega - Batultsi - Roman - Dolna Beshovitsa - Gorna Beshovitsa - Kalen - Gorna Kremena - Dolna Kremena - Mezdra - road I-1 Mezdra - Montana.

Planned reopening of the I-1 section is in about 6 months in December 2023
